How to reach us
We are based on the Isle of Man and make coffins to order. A bespoke coffin takes on average 4–5 days to complete, though a small number are held in stock and can be available within a day if suitable.

Practical information
The first few days
If someone has died, there is no need to rush. Your funeral director will guide you through most of this. These are the Island’s official sources, gathered here so you do not have to go looking.
Medical certificate
The family doctor, or the hospital doctor, will in most cases issue a Medical Certificate of Cause of Death. A death can only be registered once this has been issued. If the death is referred to the Coroner, they will issue a form allowing the registration to take place.
Registering a death
Deaths occurring in the Isle of Man should be registered within 5 days. There is no fee. Providing the information online beforehand shortens the appointment considerably.

Burial and cremation
Douglas City Council’s bereavement service looks after the Douglas Crematorium and Cemetery on Glencrutchery Road, and the Lawn Cemetery on Johnny Watterson Lane, Willaston. Services and burials can take place at both; all cremations take place at the crematorium. Parish burial grounds are arranged through the local authority or your funeral director.
Questions people ask us
Can I use a willow coffin for a cremation?
Yes. Natural fibres, untreated wood and plant materials burn cleanly. There is no plastic veneer, foam, synthetic glue or metal in our coffins.
And for a burial?
Yes. Our coffins are made from untreated organic materials that naturally biodegrade.
How long does one take to make?
A bespoke MWCC coffin takes 4–5 days. We hold a small number in stock, which can be available within a day.
What does it cost?
Coffins cost from £700 — similar to an imported English willow coffin or a traditional veneer coffin. Larger or bespoke coffins cost more, and the price is always agreed in advance.
Will my funeral director mind?
No. Any funeral director can use a coffin you have chosen. Tell them you would like a willow coffin, or ask us and we will speak to them for you.
Can I plan ahead?
Yes. You are very welcome to talk to us before anything is needed, and to see how the coffins are made.
